Stephens County Hospital is a 96-bed, acute care, not-for-profit community medical/surgical facility with more than 60 physicians on staff. Established in 1937, Stephens County Hospital was relocated in 1967 from its Tugalo Street address to its present location on Falls Road on 28 acres of land dontaed to Stephens County by Toccoa Falls College.
Stephens County Hospital is a member of the Georgia Hospital Association, American Hospital Association and the Georgia Association of Community Hospitals. It is fully accredited as a general hospital by the Joint Commission.
Stephens County Hospital offers 24-hour laboratory services, respiratory therapy services, and radiology. The radiology department services include nuclear medicine, CT scanner, Open MRI, digital mammography, and ultrasound with vascular capabilities.
Stephens County Hospital also offers inpatient and outpatient comprehensive rehabilition services through Southern Rehab Services, which includes physical, speech, and occupational therapy to patients who have disabilities due to an accident or injury, stroke, amputation, arthritis or other physical illness.
Surgical services are provided in our five operating rooms plus an additional procedure room and outpatient surgical patients are able to recover in a 10-bed outpatient recovery area prior to discharge. Inpatient services include medical, surgical, intensive care intermediate care, obsterics, and pediatrics.
New Impressions is the award-winning Family Centered-Maternal Child Unit with full obsterical services and Kids’ Korner is the Pediatric Department- decorated and designed just for children.
The Wilkinson Center is a 40-bed facility and Clary Care Center provides 42 beds; both centers provide vital services to the senior citizen population of Stephens County and both are state licensed personal care homes.
These centers provide private resident accommodations, central community rooms for activities, spacious lobbies for visiting with friends and families, and large dining rooms where meals are served.
A construction project currently underway consists of the total renovation of the original patient rooms built in 1967. These patient areas on the Surgical and Medical Units will feature new furnishings, upgraded equipment and the latest in medical technology for a more comfortable hospital stay. Phase 1 of the project is complete, with Phase II approximately 50 percent complete.
Other recent additions include a Vascular Ultrasound for diagnostics, a seris washer/sterilization, and updated and upgraded Pulmonary Function Unit, Epiphany computerized storage and remote interpretation of EKG’s, updated Vitek bacterial identification and anitbiotic susceptibility equipment and upgraded Stryker arthroscopy and eletrocautery equipment.
Stephens County Hospital, during 2007, became a tobacco-free campus, added a screened porch to the Clary Care Center for its residents, experienced a rate increase of only 4 percent and hired Hayley Knight as manager for the Clary Care Center and the Wilkinson Center.
Toccoa Clinic was established in 1946 for the purpose of providing Stephens County and Northeast Georgia residents a convenient care center capable of addressing a majority of non-emergency medical needs.
