
2011-2012 Top “10” BUSINESS PLAN OBJECTIVES
THEME: Vision, Focus and Resolve……….Charting a Course for Excellence
- Lead the Community in a Strategic Visioning Project. Encourage partnerships among all Community business and organization sectors and create a common vision, including strategic tasks and action steps that must be accomplished to meet the vision by 2030. Use the Vision to guide important decisions for revitalizing the local economy and managing growth.
- Partner with the Historical Society, Mainstreet Toccoa and the Airport Authority to organize the Currahee Military Weekend Events set for September 30 through October 2, 2011. The mission of the weekend is to honor the men of Camp Toccoa and teach WWII history through partnering to coordinate the weekend activities for over 2,000 visitors. Activities include a Community BBQ, WWII Hangar Dance, Currahee Challenge, Memorabilia Show, Veteran’s Parade, Airport Show, Military Demonstrations, Re-enactors Living History, Recruiters Displays Dinner Banquet, and Sunday Remembrance Service.
- Strengthen the Ambassador Team Program. Twenty-five Ambassadors are assigned to a small group of chamber members and will establish a working relationship with each of the 400+ members, providing them more personal attention. They will become the eyes, ears, arms and legs of the Chamber.
- Support the Lake Hartwell Marketing Alliance with promoting the lake and its surrounding region as a recreation destination. There is a Lake Hartwell Golf Trail pass, the Personal Watercraft (PWC) Triple Crown Watercross event (Aug), the Wakeboard event (SC-June & GA-July), Tugaloo mega-ramp fishing tournaments and other events in development.
- Enhance member marketing opportunities. Facilitate the use of social media and web site advertising for a 24-7 web presence. Partner with the Toccoa Record, cable companies, WNEG Radio, Fairway and other billboard companies to coordinate affordable, co-op advertising opportunities for our members.
- Play a leadership role in addressing litter and blight by sponsoring and supporting the Citizens Advisory Panel Against Litter and Blight. The Panel identifies solutions and provides recommendations to the City and County Commissions and Marshals to implement.
- Partner with the Stephens County Development Authority and Downtown Development Authority to attract and recruit new business and industry to Toccoa-Stephens County using an array of proactive steps.
- Partner with the Stephens County Development Authority to maintain an aggressive posture to assist existing business and industry as well as support our local economic engines to solidify and expand their operations.
- Partner with the Stephens County Development Authority to communicate and market the “must say” messages of Toccoa-Stephens County across multiple mediums to a variety of internal and external udiences.
- Partner with the Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program to facilitate the continued revitalization and development of downtown Toccoa including implementing a Revolving Loan Fund.
